A Lifetime Of Teamwork

The partnership of Bobby Lapin and John C. Landa, Jr., precedes their founding of Lapin & Landa and, in a true sense, dates back to the summer of 1960. From the time they were both born in Houston that summer to parents who were already close friends, Bobby and John have been closest of lifelong friends and partners in many endeavors, including athletic competitions and debate during high school, moot court and mock trial tournaments during law school, and community involvement ever since. They were groomsmen in each other's weddings and their own families have shared countless occasions, milestones and challenges together. After graduating together from high school in Houston, Bobby headed west, where he attended Stanford University, graduating With Distinction with a degree in English Literature in 1982. John headed east to Duke University, from which he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Accounting and Economics in 1982. The two then reunited at University of Texas School of Law, from which both graduated With Honors in 1985. Since graduating from law school, they have practiced trial law together every day for the past 36 years. In December of 1991, Bobby and John founded a small Downtown Houston litigation boutique with a simple guiding professional goal: to accept a limited volume of cases, and to give each client, and each case, unique personal care and attention. Decades later, Lapin & Landa, LLP, continues to follow and thrive with the same model. Cases we accept are not delegated to inexperienced associates.

Our Practice: A Dedication To Excellence

Bobby's practice concentrates predominantly on representing individual and corporate plaintiffs in personal injury, business and employment litigation, while John has spent his career predominantly representing institutions and professionals who are named as defendants in medical malpractice lawsuits. Their many years of experience in such a practice offers them unique insight into the strategy of "how the other side thinks" that is rarely available or appreciated in a firm that limits its trial practice to one side of the docket.

Reputable, Respected And Recognized Leaders

Bobby and John are the Firm’s co-founding partners, and co-owners. In 1990 and 1991, Bobby and John were both Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law and Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Year after year, they have been nominated and honored by their peers as Texas Monthly Magazine "Super Lawyers".

In 2003, Lucille Reiter King, formerly a Member of Dunn, Kacal, Adams, Pappas & Law, joined Lapin & Landa. Lucille, a 1994 graduate of The University of Houston School of Law and 1991 honors graduate of Texas A&M University, has practiced in the area of health care defense for over 25 years. She is a Partner of the Firm.

Angela Nolan, formerly a Partner with Law, Feehan & Adams, joined Lapin & Landa as a Partner in 2021. She graduated from Baylor University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, and earned her law degree from South Texas College of Law, graduating in 1996. She has devoted her career to the representation of health care providers and has deep experience in all aspects of trial and appellate work.

Julie Anderson, a magna cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University, practiced and taught nursing in Texas for 13 years before earning her law degree in 1989 from the University of Houston. Julie's primary area of practice is now and has always been the representation of hospitals and other health care providers. She is Of Counsel to the Firm, and has practiced with us since 2004.

Andrea Schwab has been Of Counsel to Lapin & Landa since 2014. A former Associate General Counsel of the Texas Medical Association, she has gained invaluable experience advocating on behalf of Texas physicians and patients before the Texas Legislature and state agencies. Andrea works with Lapin & Landa on a wide variety of matters relating to health law and the defense of health care providers. Andrea also maintains a separate law practice and clientele in Austin, which is independent from Lapin & Landa, LLP.

A Record Of Community Involvement

In addition to our law practice, we at Lapin & Landa, LLP, have always believed in giving back to the community which has been so supportive of us. Toward that end, our Firm and its founding partners have established and funded over $100,000 in scholarships benefiting hospital employees attending local community colleges, so as to promote educational opportunities and enable the recipients to advance their careers by becoming LVN's, RN's or graduate nurses. In doing so, our goal is to give impetus to hard-working health care workers who have the desire, but not the financial resources, to earn a professional degree that will enable them to serve patients, reach their highest potential, and improve our community’s health care system.
